Hello Matthew -- I'm writing simply because I'm getting older, and in the car yesterday I listened again to Don William's singing "Good Ole Boys Like Me", written as you know by your uncle, Bob.
I thought that this time I would have to remember to try to send a note to Bob McDill to thank him for this wonderful song, filled as it is with all the profound contradictions of life. Had I written such moving lyrics and coupled them to such an beautifully narrative melody, I would have easily said to myself, this is enough, this was good payment to the world for living.
Anyway, please convey my appreciation.
